Nick Carter says 'the darkness lasts forever' in tribute song to late brother Aaron

Nick Carter has penned a heartfelt tribute to his late brother Aaron Carter in the form of a new song.

Aaron died at the age of 34 in November last year and now his older brother has released a tune in his honour.

The Backstreet Boys star, 42, shared the song with his followers. It discusses how he wishes his brother was able to overcome his demons to live a plentiful life.

In the track titled Hurts to Love You, Nick sings the words: "Always hoped your tomorrows / Would be better than the days before / I hoped you’d find your road to follow / To a place you were happy in this world."

He goes on to say that while it hurts to love Aaron, he still does.

The words continue: "Miss you with all my heart, you know I always will / I always prayed for peace my soul could feel/ It’s hard to let go of the anger / I know for me it took some time / Sometimes the darkness lasts forever / Feels like the light won’t ever shine."

Nick gave his 2.2million Instagram followers a glimpse of the music video for his track as he uploaded it to the platform. The montage saw the emotional-looking star sing the words to the tune over a background of throwback home videos of the pair.

He captioned his post: "We all have someone in our lives that no matter what they do and how bad it hurts you still love them. So I worked it out the best way I know how. #HurtsToLoveYou"

Fans were quick to share their love for the song in the comments section, with one user writing: "This song is so breathtaking.. meaningful.. beautiful.. powerful!"

Another agreed, saying: "Proud of you for being so vulnerable and sharing your pain, grief, and this healing process with us. Love you."
