Nick Cannon to guest host 'The Wendy Williams Show' as Williams battles Graves' disease complications

One of TV's most ubiquitous hosts will be filling in for Wendy Williams next week.

Nick Cannon _ who currently emcees "The Masked Singer" on Fox and MTV's "Wild 'N Out" _ will step in as the guest replacement on "The Wendy Williams Show" for three episodes next week as Williams continues to recover from complications from Graves' disease.

Cannon, 38, will host the episodes from Monday to Wednesday.

"The new hour long episodes will include Wendy's staple Hot Topics segment, Ask Wendy, celebrity interviews & more!" reads an announcement shared to Williams' Twitter page.

"The Wendy Williams Show" began airing new episodes this week for the first time since Williams announced she was taking an "extended break" from the show.

Monday and Tuesday's episodes have featured a panel of guests who have discussed entertainment topics as part of the show's "Hot Talk" segment. Celebrity chef Carla Hall also conducted an interview with singer Michael Bolton on Tuesday's show.

Williams, who announced her diagnosis with Graves' disease _ an immune system ailment characterized by the overproduction of hormones by the thyroid _ last year, released a statement earlier this month revealing she would be leaving the show indefinitely and would have to spend "significant time" in the hospital due to complications from the condition.

Her show had been airing reruns since December.

Williams, 54, also took a three-week hiatus from the show last year after announcing her diagnosis.

In addition to his current gigs, Cannon previously hosted "America's Got Talent" from 2009 to 2016 and his own series, "The Nick Cannon Show," from 2002 to 2003.
