Nick Cannon celebrates his daughter's first birthday two weeks after death of his son

Nick Cannon had a reason to smile as he celebrated his daughter's first birthday party just two weeks after the tragic death of his five-month-old son.

The TV presenter, 41, put on a brave face to celebrate Powerful Queen's big day as he threw an extravagant Christmas-themed bash alongside the child's mum Brittany Bell.

The couple, who dated on/off for six years, also share five-year-old son Golden.

Nick dressed in a funny elf suit and donned sunglasses for the occasion while mum Brittany looked beautiful in a red gown with a gold bodice.

She matched her daughter who also wore a gold outfit with white tights and a cute hair band.

The couple shared the day's activities with their followers on Instagram.

When the youngster wasn't in the arms of her doting parents, she was seen perched in a high chair decorated in red tinsel.

The front of the chair donned a banner saying "one" while her name was also showcased behind her in gold lettering.

There was also a huge Christmas tree with it's sparkly lights clearly on show as the partiers also took in the festive spirit.

Santa later made an appearance with Brittany saying he was "a blast" on her Story. On another upload, Brittany wrote: "We made it snow in LA," as she took the tot down a small ramp on a sled.

Nick showed huge strength to put on a happy face throughout the party as it came just weeks after son Zen, who he shared with Alyssa Scott, died of a brain tumour.

Zen was Nick's seventh and youngest child and he revealed the tragic news with viewers on The Nick Cannon Show earlier this month.

The tot's health deteriorated during the Thanksgiving period, with the star explaining how his brain tumour grew at a rapid pace.

He explained: "Over the weekend, I lost my youngest son to a condition called hydrocephalus…brain cancer.

"It’s tough. And I have my therapist here, who’s been helping us through it."

A tearful Nick went on to tell the audience he spent the previous weekend in California with Zen.

The presenter explained during the episode that he had decided to return to work so quickly after the tragedy because he needed to keep busy.

Zen was born in June, with the host of the US version of the Masked Singer sharing a photo of the newborn to his Instagram Stories at the time.

He had captioned the picture of a sleeping Zen: "Introducing Zen Scott Cannon 'aka Z Chillin'."
