Nicholas Hoult to join cast of Harry Potter HBO show in major role

Harry Potter Nicholas Hoult HBO Gilderoy Lockhart

Actor Nicholas Hoult is set to play Gilderoy Lockhart in the second season of HBO's upcoming Harry Potter television adaptation.
The role of Lockhart was previously portrayed by Kenneth Branagh in the 2002 film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets .
The first season of the decade-long project is scheduled to premiere on 25 December 2026 as a faithful adaptation of J.K. Rowling's books.
Hoult joins a wide cast featuring John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Snape, and newcomers Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout as the lead trio.
The television series will feature several differences from the original films, including character ages that align more closely with the books.
