Niche burger brand The Burger Priest set to open first branch in North Staffordshire

A niche burger brand which specialises in 100 per cent Aberdeen Angus beef is opening its first franchise in North Staffordshire.

The company, which currently has branches in Harlow in Essex and Swindon, is set to move into The Hive at intu Potteries Shopping Centre, in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent later this month.

The Burger Priest is moving into the former Gourmet Burger Kitchen unit - between Pizza Express and Chiquitos.

The quirky new restaurant - which boasts a menu of burgers, loaded fries and chicken wings as well as milkshakes and ice cream - will lead to the creation of up to 20 new jobs.

Rachael Jackson, general manager at intu Potteries, said: "We are thrilled to welcome The Burger Priest to the centre. Their food will be a great addition, bringing a new dimension to the overall dining experience at The Hive."

A spokesperson for The Burger Priest said: "It's a unique offer for the people of Stoke-on-Trent. The provenance of our meat is fully traceable and everything on the menu is great quality.

"We think intu Potteries is the perfect venue and we're looking forward to opening as soon as possible."

The news comes just days after The Restaurant Group warned that it is looking to close a number of Chiquito and Frankie & Benny's sites across the country - after posting a hefty £87.7 million pre-tax loss.
