'Nicest man' killed after car crushes him as tributes pour in

Tributes have poured in for a man who died after being crushed underneath his car.

The tragic incident occurred at an address on Waterpark Road, Prenton, just before 1.30pm on Sunday, 19 July.

The air ambulance was dispatched to the scene following reports that a man in his 50s was injured underneath his car.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the man died at the scene.

Police said that the death is not being treated as suspicious.

A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "We can confirm that emergency services were in Prenton, Wirral, following the non-suspicious death of a man yesterday afternoon, Sunday 19 July.

"At around 1.25pm, we were called by the ambulance service to Waterpark Road to reports of a man in his 50s found injured under his vehicle.

"He was sadly pronounced deceased at the scene, and his next of kin are aware.

"His death is not being treated as suspicious and a file has been prepared for the Coroner."

People took to social media to pay tribute to the man and his family following his sad death expressing their "deepest sympathies" to all those involved.

Kathleen Tarbuck said: "So sad. Deepest sympathy to all his family and friends. RIP."

Patricia Gallagher said: "Oh how awful, deepest sympathy to all his loved ones. RIP."

Rose Rose wrote: "Deepest sympathies to his family and friends."

Adam Rowlands commented:"RIP mate. Thinking of your family at this difficult time."

Other tributes were also left on social media, including by people who knew the man.

One wrote: "He was a family friend of ours and was one of the most amazing men I’ve ever met, so upsetting."

And another said: "Heartbreaking. He was the nicest man."
