'Nicest man ever' mugged on own doorstep in sneaky Finglas robbery

An elderly man was mugged on his own doorstep in a sneaky theft in north Dublin last week.

The daring raid took place in Ballygall Place, Finglas on Friday, March 26 shortly after 9pm.

It's understood the victim - who was described as "harmless" and the "nicest man ever" - answered the door to a young man who asked him if he had lost his wallet.

When the elderly man went to his pocket to check, the thief took the opportunity to grab cash and the man's passport before fleeing.

A garda spokeswoman told Dublin Live they are investigating the incident.

She said: "Gardaí are investigating a robbery which occurred at a residence in Ballygall Place, Finglas, Dublin on the 26 th March 2021 at approximately 9:00pm.

"A sum of cash was taken during the course of the incident.

"No arrests have been made. Investigations are ongoing."
