Nice 'n' Sleazy Glasgow bar raise funds for beloved doorman Big John Frazer's funeral

A Glasgow bar has launched a fundraiser to help towards funeral costs after their beloved doorman Big John Frazer lost his life.

Staff at Nice 'n' Sleazy were left devastated after the legendary bouncer died tragically in his sleep at the weekend after suffering heart problems in recent months.

The dad-of-two worked at the Sauchiehall Street pub for almost 30 years and was known to 'love his job' and give 'incredible hugs'.

Now his former colleagues are rallying round his two daughters and partner who were also crushed by the tragic loss.

They smashed their £7,000 Justgiving page target in less than 18 hours with tributes and donations still pouring in.

Flowers and tributes have also been left outside the doors of the bar as people pay their respects to the beloved member of staff.

Writing on the Justgiving page, staff said: "Sadly 'Big John Frazer' as he was affectionately known, our beloved friend, family and door steward of 30 years at Nice n Sleazy, passed away peacefully in his sleep at the weekend.

"We were fortunate and privileged to have John grace our doors for so long.

"He was a warm and caring human being who saw the best in people, even at their worst.

"We shall miss his larger than life presence, his hugs, his incredible laugh and beautiful smile, his wind ups, his pint of tea, his pocket of sweets and his deadly stare.

"He saw it all on our door, he was a much loved character on Sauchiehall St, he loved his job and he loved people.

"He is survived by two daughters and a brother, who loved him dearly.

"People have been getting in touch wanting to contribute. So we thought this would be a nice way to show support to his family with the costs involved, especially when there are limits on how many can pay their respects at a service."

Scots band the Twilight Sad, who paid a heartfelt tribute to John earlier this week, added: "After speaking with John’s family, Nice n Sleazy have arranged this fundraiser as it’s clear there are so many people wanting to support them with the costs involved, especially when there are limits on how many can pay their respects at a service."

The steward was looking forward to his 30 year mile stone at the Sauchiehall Street bar before losing his life, but friends have vowed to still celebrate for him when it is safe to do so.

Many remembered 'the warm person' for his 'booming laugh' and good nature promising to 'raise a drink' when they can for him.
