Nice CEO aims dig at Everton after Morgan Schneiderlin completes transfer

The CEO of Nice appeared to aim a dig at Everton after Morgan Schneiderlin completed his transfer to the Ligue 1 side.

In a video announcing their new signing with a lockdown theme, the club opted to recreate a family Zoom video chat that was shared in a post on the club's official twitter account.

It shows several people greeting each other in French and is similar to many other virtual family meetings most of us have experienced over the last few weeks.

However, switching to English, the CEO Bob Ratcliffe seems to take a swipe at Everton after Schneirderlin to the call, claiming the midfielder is at last joining 'a proper football club’.

The Blues were locked in negotiations with the Ligue 1 club over a deal for the 30-year-old midfielder and today announced the Frenchman has left Goodison for an undisclosed fee.

He made 71 appearances for the Blues making his debut in a memorable 4-0 win over Manchester City, scoring one goal against West Brom shortly after his arrival at Goodison.

Schneiderlin himself opted to post a more classy goodbye to England, after 12 years playing for three different Premier League sides during his career including Everton, Manchester United and Southampton.

He said: "Thanks to this country which gave me so much, on the football side as well as on the human side.

"Thanks to all the clubs for their trust, thanks to the fans for their support every weekend, thanks to all my teammates with whom I spent unforgettable times and thanks to all the coaches and staff members who taught me so much!

"It's time for me to close the England chapter and to start writing a new one which, I hope will be as beautiful!

"Simply, thanks England."
