Nice attack: Rihanna and 50 Shades of Grey cast confirmed safe

A representative for Rihanna and a producer for 50 Shades of Grey and has confirmed cast members are safe after the French city of Nice was hit by a suspected terror attack on Thursday evening. 

At least 84 people including women and children died and at least 50 more people are injured after a lorry hit crowds who had gathered to celebrate Bastille Day, the French national day. The driver has been identified as a 31-year-old French-Tunisian man in French media. He was shot by police after driving at spectators. 

Actors including Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson and a crew are currently filming scenes for the final 50 Shades of Grey instalment in the tourist destination. It is not known if filming will be suspended in the wake of the attack.

“As far as I know everyone from our cast and crew is safe. Thanks for everyone's concern,” Dana Brunetti wrote on Twitter overnight. He shared a statement from producers after: “Production has confirmed that everyone working on location in the south of France is okay. Everyone has been accounted for and is safe and sound.”

A representative for Rihanna has confirmed the singer is also safe. She was in Nice to perform a concert for her Anti World Tour. The concert and other concerts due to go ahead in the city have now been cancelled.
