Nice attack: Couple reunited with their eight-month-old baby after making Facebook appeal

A couple who lost their eight-month-old during the truck attack in Nice have been reunited with their baby after an appeal went out on Facebook.

The parents reportedly lost their pram during the disorder that followed the moment a lorry drove into a crowd during Bastille celebrations in Nice.

Tiava Banner, the baby’s aunt, posted on Facebook status calling for people to contact her if they had information about her nephew.

She wrote: “We have lost our eight-month old baby.

“Friends of Nice, if you have seen him, if you were there, if you have picked him up, please contact me.”

The post was shared by Facebook users more than 22,000 times.

Around an hour later, the baby was found alive and well after it was discovered a local resident had taken the baby into their home.

Ms Banner updated the post, thanking a woman named Joy Ruez.

“Found! Huge thank you to Joy Ruez,” she wrote.

"Thanks to all of those on Facebook who helped us and sent us messages of support."

She added:  “He is well”, but said there was "still panic" because members of her family remained in hospital.

She wrote: “Other members of the family have been hospitalised. Prayers for my family and all of the families of victims."

Dozens of people are still missing following the attack. Concerned friends and relatives are using social media to appeal for information on missing loved ones.

A Facebook page called SOS Nice has been set up since the attack to help appeals reach as many people as possible.

More than 80 people are confirmed to have been killed and over a hundred are reportedly injured as a result of the attack, including 14 who are in intensive care.

The attacker has been identified as 31-year-old Tunisian-born Frenchman named Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel.
