Niall Quinn-led consortium set to present League of Ireland reform proposals to FAI

The Niall Quinn-led consortium that wants to reform the League of Ireland is ready to present its proposals to the FAI.

Quinn and up to eight figureheads from the sporting and business worlds have been working on a radical proposal for the best part of a year.

But until now, the former Republic of Ireland striker has kept the finer details under wraps as his group had to put “meat on the bones”.

But it emerged yesterday that Quinn has already held informal talks over the phone with newly appointed interim FAI boss Noel Mooney.

And the pair plan to have face to face talks once Mooney officially steps into his role on Monday week.

Quinn has also spoken to PFA Ireland chief Stephen McGuinness to outline aspects of the eagerly-awaited proposal document.

Quinn and his group will attend a stakeholders forum into Irish football at the Mansion House in Dublin next Friday, hosted by Minister for Sport Shane Ross.
