Niall Horan took home salary of €2.4 million from music firm profits last year

The global success of Niall Horan’s Flicker album allowed the Mullingar man add to his fortune last year when he paid himself €2.4 million in salary from his two Irish music firms.

New accounts filed by Horan’s Limerick based Neon Haze Music Ltd and Jaredon Ltd show that the singer-songwriter - who turns 26 next month - earned the bumper salary after combined revenues surged to €6.1 million at the two music firms last year.

Horan - who has amassed 39.3m followers on Twitter - set up Jaredon Ltd in June 2017 to help manage his solo career after his time with the all conquering One Direction.

Horan’s debut solo album, Flicker was released in October 2017 and debuted at number one in charts in Ireland, the US, Canada, Mexico and also hit the top spot in iTunes in over 60 countries.

Now, the first set of accounts by Horan’s music firm, Jaredon show that the business enjoyed revenues of €4.6m in the 17 months to the end of November last.

This is in addition to the €1.43m in revenues recorded by Horan’s Neon Haze Music Ltd in the 12 months to the end of November resulting in the overall revenues of €6.12m for the two Horan firms.

Horan paid himself €1.43m from Jaredon Ltd over the 17 months and an additional $1.13m (€1m) from Neon Haze Music Ltd over the 12 months period.

However, the combined €2.4m in pay from the two firms is down on the $2.994m (€2.67m) Horan received in pay from Neon Haze Music Ltd in 2017.

The combined cash pile at the two companies totalled €3.76m at the end of last November.

Horan’s two sell out shows at the 3Arena in March 2018 earned €1 million at the box office that is split between the artist, venue and promoter - last year, Horan embarked on an exhaustive world tour as he promoted Flicker across the globe.

Horan is set to add to his coffers shortly with the release of a much anticipated new single, ‘Nice to Meet Ya’ in September.

Limerick based accountant to the stars, Alan McEvoy has helped to oversee the finances of One Direction and Mr McEvoy is again an integral part of managing Mr Horan’s wealth.

Mr McEvoy sits as a non-executive director on the board of Horan’s Neon Haze Music Ltd and Jaredon Ltd.

The accounts disclose that Hot Head Touring Ltd, a company jointly controlled by Mr McEvoy charged Jaredon Ltd €525,652 for promotional services during the period.

The Neon Haze accounts show that Hot Head Touring Ltd charged the firm $120,712 for recording promotional services during the year.

Another firm, Jeanstock Ltd which is controlled by Mr McEvoy charged the two Horan firms €66,551 for accountancy services last year.
