Niall Horan takes to streets of London for Black Lives Matter protest and explains why

Niall Horan took to the streets of London today to protest for the Black Lives Matter movement.

The Irish man was among thousands of protesters who walked through the capital of England in solidarity with those protesting in the US.

Horan donned a face mask as he filmed short clips walking down the streets of London surrounded by other peaceful protests.

Most demonstrators did remain peaceful although there were some violent scenes outside Downing Street during the day.

Former One Direction man Niall has been vocal in his support for the movement and explained to fans online why he chose to march on the streets.

He tweeted: "Let’s protest safely people. look out for each other. It’s time to really educate the younger generations that there should not be hatred based on the colour of the next persons skin.

"Only love.I go to bed tonight thinking of all my friends in America and hope they are safe."

Adding: "I live in America most of the year, it’s in my interests of course."

Fans also urged each other to leave the singer alone while protesting with many asking whereabouts they would be able to see him supporting the cause.

One said: "Do not turn this into a meet and greet, do not go looking for Niall while you're at the protest, do not try to get a selfie or an autograph, do not go to the protest if your only motivation is to see Niall Horan."
