Niall Horan slams Matt Hancock as 'smug and slippery' saying Health Secretary's had a 'massive howler'

Niall Horan has slammed Matt Hancock, writing that the Health Secretary “thinks he’s a lot more intelligent than he actually is”.

The former One Direction star tweeted his condemnation of the Government's handling of the coronvirus.

“I get the idea that Health secretary Matt Hancock thinks he’s a lot more intelligent than he actually is,” Horan wrote. “Always very smug and slippery.”

He continued: “Excuse me but Matt you’ve had a major howler here and it’s about time you handed facts out instead of worrying about what the opposition thinks.”

Last month, Horan, 26, performed in the One World: Together At Home virtual concert, which celebrated frontline workers fighting the coronavirus crisis and raised money for the UN Foundation's Covid-19 Response Fund.

He has also made a 100,000 euro (£88,478) donation to Alone, which is an Irish charity helping older people through the pandemic.

The singer received supportive comments on the social media platform.

One wrote: “Niall for president”, and another adding: “King of using his platform to talk about important topics, I have to stan even harder.”

The Health Secretary was also condemned by actor Hugh Grant after he appeared on This Morning with Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield.

The clip showed presenter Phillip Schofield asking Hancock whether it is correct that people could see both of their parents separately 10 minutes apart, in accordance with lockdown guidelines.

“Don’t you see that that’s utterly bonkers,” Schofield asked, with Grant tweeting in response: “It is. They are. We’re f***ed.”
