Niall Horan serenades fans with intimate charity gig from his living room during lockdown

Niall Horan dazzled his fans with a stripped-back concert from home this evening in an effort to raise money for charity.

And the star revealed that a whopping €789,000 has been raised for the ISPCC and Childline thanks to the combined efforts of Irish stars such as Hozier, Dermot Kennedy, Gavin James and Kodaline among many others.

Broadcasting live on Instagram from his London home the singer settled in with a simple set up of just a couple of guitars and a piano- a far cry from his usual stadium arrangement.

After more than 30,000 people had tuned in the star opened with an intimate acoustic version of hit track 'This Town' followed by 'Everything Comes Back To You' and 'No Judgement'.

RTE 2FM also broadcast the home concert simultaneously with presenter Eoghan McDermot chatting to the Mullingar star in between tracks.

Speaking to the broadcaster Niall said that quarantine was 'treating him very well'.

He said: "I spend a lot of time on the road moving around but I'm kind of enjoying being home for a change. You know I bough a house I'd like to stay in it for a while."

"It's been nice to stay at home and do a bit of cooking."

The former One Direction star also told those watching about the work of the ISPCC and Childline as he urged viewers to donate what they could.

He told of how some people may be struggling with their mental health or living in an abusive home and how the lockdown could be affecting those people.

"People are at home those feelings are probably more acute than ever right now because they can't leave their houses and Childline has historically been the place in Ireland where they can go."

Speaking on the incredible sum of money raised he said: "It's absolutely insane we couldn't do without all these live streams from great Irish acts and the talent on display and I'm happy that I got to be involved.

"It's such an unbelievable charity. It will go a long way to help some of those kids."

Fellow Irish star Hozier appeared on The Late Late Show alongside host Miriam O'Callaghan where he appealed to viewers to also donate to the ISPCC and Childline.

Meanwhile Gavin James appeared the following week on the Friday night show to perform Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

He also reached out to viewers to donate anything they could to the Irish charity ALONE which supports older people at home.
