Niall Horan says he misses home but admits it's nice to slow down after living out of a suitcase for ten years

Niall Horan said it’s been nice to slow down over lockdown after living out of a suitcase for the past ten years but admitted he’s missing home.

He's one of the biggest stars in the world since catapulting to fame when he was just 16-years-old with One Direction.

But just like everyone else left stranded from home during the pandemic, Niall, who turned 27 last month said he was sad to miss some big events during lockdown.

“I would have loved to have got back at some stage, I missed my granny's 90th, my father’s 60th, the All Ireland Final,” he told Today FM’s Dermot and Dave.

Meanwhile, speaking later on, he said he was also hoping to blag a gig with Christy Moore at the Fleadh, which was due to take place in his home of Mullingar this summer.

He said: ”I would have loved to do something, I remember when I heard the Fleadh was going to Mullingar I was thinking to myself I would absolutely love to ask Christy Moore to do something.”

Speaking on RTE One’s The Ray D’Arcy Show, he added: “I think after this we will all be working like mad but it has definitely been nice to sit in one spot and not pack a suitcase.

“Like I lived out of a suitcase for the past ten years in hotel rooms, very rarely unpacking.

"To do that for ten years, as nice as it has been for everyone else, it has been nice for me to take that time.”

However, set to get back on the stage, with his special one-off live streamed show at London's prestigious Royal Albert Hall on November 7th, he admitted he’s itching to get him and his crew back to work and making money again.

Niall, who has vowed to give all the profits from the event to his touring crew said: “But it is getting to the point where you don’t know whether you are coming or going.

“And that’s why I wanted to do this because all these crew members who work tirelessly and are the engines of the music industry because they are self employed don't qualify for furlough even though they make more money for the governments of our countries than most industries in the world.

“And the fact they were left behind was very frustrating for me.”

“So that’s why we are paying every penny we make to them.”

Tickets are going on sale at 9am on Friday 16th of October.
