Niall Horan poses with President Biden as fans question if he's making major career move

Niall Horan has taken a step into the world of politics - and the White House - to celebrate St Patrick’s Day with a very powerful new friend.

The 29-year-old singer was in Washington DC on Friday and was granted access to the President’s official residence where he joined President Joe Biden, 80.

The music star and the political leader appeared to be in good spirits as they prepared to celebrate the patron saint of Ireland.

And taking to Instagram, Niall shared footage from inside the White House, with President Biden himself cosying up to the star while both American and Irish flags were on display behind him.

Footage showed Niall looking smartly dressed while inside the iconic building - and the video was captioned: “Couldn’t celebrate St. Patrick’s Day alone.”

Addressing the camera, he said: “Hi guys It’s me.

“I just wanna wish you a very happy St Patricks Day from the White House from me.”

He then panned the camera around to show a beaming President Biden behind him - sporting a festive green tie.

The President then stepped alongside Niall and put a friendly hand on his shoulder.

President Biden declared: “And me too. I’m here at the White House. I hang out here once in a while."

He added: “I’m glad he’s here. I’m glad he’s here.”

The boys then bid a Happy St Patrick’s Day to those viewing.

Fans were astonished to see Niall being joined by the US President - with many taking to the comment section of his post to express their surprise and delight.

And many other hoped that Niall could employ some diplomacy skills as he appeared to have the ear of the most powerful man in the world.

Many followers urged Niall to confront the President over his controversial ‘Willow Project’ - which is an oil drilling project that is proceeding in Alaska.

The oil mining mission has been a point of contention for environmentalists and those campaigning against climate change.

The President - who also shared the same video with Naill via his own Instagram page - later hosted a dinner for a number of officials to mark the annual celebrations.

Sharing a photo of delegates amassed in front of him - including Irish Taoiseach Leo Varadkar - President Biden wrote alongside the snap on Instagram: "St. Patrick's Day is always a moment of great unity in Washington.

"It was great sitting down with Democrats and Republicans alike who share a deep respect and love of Ireland."

President Biden fondly identifies as Irish himself, as his paternal great-grandmother Mary Ann Hanafee hails from the emerald isle.
