Niall Currie makes his feelings clear after latest Portadown defeat

Niall Currie was left disappointed that Coleraine's second goal was allowed to stand on Saturday, but his biggest gripe was about something closer to home.

The Portadown boss felt Matthew Shevlin should have been flagged for offside before putting the Bannsiders 2-1 ahead at The Showgrounds.

Currie though was left more frustrated by the performance of his side in the second half as the hosts ran out 4-1 winners in the end.

"I don't think we got anywhere near our levels and that's the big disappointment for me," he said.

"It's not losing a game of football, sometimes, it's the manner of our defeat in the second half.

"Put it like this, the white flag certainly went up and it ended up a very comfortable afternoon for Coleraine, which to me is totally unacceptable.

"The one thing that I want from the club, from the players, is hearts on sleeves stuff, 100 percent from everybody.

"Whenever you're coming off the pitch and your tank is not emptied then you've got to have a long, hard look at yourself.

"It's not acceptable for the supporters to travel up here and know that certain players came off that pitch today with plenty still left in the tank."

Currie also wanted to see more aggression from his side as they fight for survival in the Premiership.

"People can have assumptions about football but see if you don't have aggression you don't have anything about you," he said.

"There was a lack of aggression from us today in our game.

"There was a lack of getting at people and nibbling at people and having that hunting down theory that we have.

"I don't think we put pressure on the ball often enough today."
