BHOPAL: Mohammed Anas and Zuber Khan — who were picked up from Bhopal in a joint operation by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and IB — were released on Monday after being subjected to several rounds of interrogation.
They have been given notices to be present again for the agency by the end of this month.
Two youths were detained in a joint operation led by NIA and Intelligence Bureau from Bhopal in the wee hours on Sunday.
Anas and Khan are aged 20 to 25 years.
While Anas was detained from his house in Abbas Nagar, Khan of Silwani in Raisen district was picked up from boarding in the city.
One of them is educated at a madrasa while the other one is a graduate from Bhopal.
Insiders say that they had got in touch with a radical organisation — which was under watch — through social media platforms.
“They would be required for questioning once data is retrieved from their cell phones. As of now they don’t need to be arrested,” said a police officer.
"He denied any overseas financial transaction by the duo. One of them doesn't even have a bank account,” he said.
Sources say that this action was part of a nationwide crackdown by these two agencies across various states including Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Bihar, Karnataka, Maharashtra and UP on 13 premises for their suspected pro-ISIS activities on social media platforms.
Investigators had confiscated their phones for detailed investigation.
No past crime record has been found.
It’s however confirmed that they were in touch with sections of radical organisations through various apps.
