Flood defence works are due to begin in an area of South Belfast next month.
NI Water will be carrying out flood alleviation works in Ravenhill Avenue as part of a £7 million programme to upgrade the sewerage system and prevent the risk of flooding in the area.
The work will take place from mid-September and is expected to take up to 24 months to complete.
The essential project will involve installing new sewers along a section of Ravenhill Avenue and surrounding streets. It is being undertaken to reduce the risk of internal and external out-of-sewer flooding and is expected to increase sewerage capacity in the area.
NI Water say that the improvement works will bring "real benefits" to the community by upgrading the sewerage infrastructure, some of which dates back to the 1900s.
They continued that NI Water have been "liaising closely" with the Department of Infrastructure to minimise disruption to residents in the area.
Parking restrictions will be in place while work is being carried out in the area.
As the work continues, residents will be kept up to date and through letter drops and regular updates.
NI water added in their statement: "NI Water understands that major work of this nature can be disruptive to the local community and would like to thank the public in advance for their patience and cooperation.
"NI Water is following government health advice to make sure our customers and our people stay safe, in light of the unprecedented global pandemic. We are practising social distancing and our priority is to keep customers and colleagues safe.
"We would ask that you keep a minimum of 2m distance from our workforce."
NI Water will also hold an online virtual public information session prior to the commencement of these works.
