NI traffic: M2 lanes reopen after crash caused early morning delays

Police say a crash on the M2 which causes delays for commuters on Thursday morning has been cleared.

The collision happened just after Junction 4 at Sandyknowes heading towards Belfast and led to the closure of one lane.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Motorists are advised that the M2 at Sandyknowes heading Belfast bound has now reopened following an earlier road traffic collision. However drivers should be aware that the bus lane remains closed due to a broken down lorry."

Two lanes were originally closed but one was reopened soon after.

Meanwhile, Trafficwatch NI is reporting that there is an ongoing incident on the M1 Westbound between J6 Saintfield Road and J7 Sprucefield.

A car, believed to be on fire, is on the hard shoulder and smoke is creating poor visibility.

Drivers are being asked to slow down on approach to this vehicle.
