NI pub has cheeky dig at southern Covid rules in attempt to draw customers

A Northern Irish pub has invited drinkers from across the border to visit their establishment if they are "fed up" of bars closing at 8pm.

The Trinity Bar in Derry have put the ad up on their social media pages and offered people the chance to "party a little longer", reports the Irish Mirror.

The picture starts: "Fed up with pubs closing at eight? Come across to Derry for live music, good vibes, full table service and party a little longer."

They add on Instagram: "The fun doesn't stop at The Trinity!

"We like our good times to run long into the night, so don't settle for an early night, and join us for great music, great cocktails in the city's hottest venue!"

They add that Euros and ROI Covid certs are accepted inside.

In Northern Ireland, since 27 December, a maximum of six people can be seated together in hospitality settings. More than six will be permitted if they all belong to a single household, as long as it is not more than 10.

Table service is also required and apart from entering and leaving the premises, the only movement allowed indoors is to access toilet or baby changing facilities, to select food from a buffet or to pay.

Vaccine certs are also mandatory but there is no early closing time like in the Republic.
