NI news: Police in Co Down 'catch burglars red handed'

Police in Saintfield this morning caught three males 'red handed' at an 'ongoing burglary'.

A PSNI spokesperson said officers were called to a property at 6.45am, as they were about to finish duty.

They found three males who "tried to flee out the back door of the house".

Police have thanked the local community for the information that they provided which helped during the incident.

Three males were arrested, running "straight towards waiting police officers and into handcuffs".

A Facebook post from Police Newry, Mourne and Down said: "Caught red handed...

"At a quarter to seven this morning, as we were about to finish duty, we received a report of an ongoing burglary at an address in Saintfield.

"Upon our arrival at the property, three males noticed us and tried to flee out the back door of the house - they ran straight towards waiting police officers and into handcuffs.

"They have been arrested and will be interviewed regarding the incident. Thanks to the local community for the information they provided.

"The public and police working together to beat the burglar!"
