NI news: Police find man 'wanted for breaching bail in purpose-built hide behind sofa'

A man has been found in a 'purpose-built hide behind a sofa', the PSNI say.

Officers said they attended an address in Co Down after reports of suspicious activity.

They added 'it is believed he has been wanted for a number of weeks for breaching bail'.

Police Newry Mourne and Down explained: "Yesterday afternoon, officers from Downpatrick Local Policing Team attended an address in the Saintfield area, following reports of suspicious activity.

"We subsequently discovered a man hiding in this purpose-built hide in the property, behind a sofa.

"It is believed he has been wanted for a number of weeks for breaching bail and has been using this hide to avoid being detained.

"Whilst at the property police also discovered a sizable quantity of suspected class A drugs. The man and a woman, who was at the house, have been arrested for drug offences.

"The male has been remanded in prison."
