The incident is understood to have happened around 4am on Skegoneill Avenue.

Detectives investigating the incident are appealing for witnesses.

PSNI Detective Sergeant Faulkner said: "We received a report at around 4.30am yesterday morning (13th December) of some type of struggle between a man and a woman that occurred at around 4am.

"We are keen to establish exactly what occurred and we would urge anyone who was in the area, between 4am and 4:30am, and witnessed what happened to get in touch with us.
