NI news: Cry for help in Co Antrim prompts emergency services operation including PSNI helicopter and dog unit

Emergency services and the PSNI dog and helicopter crew have been working in Ballymena today after someone was heard crying out for help.

A member of the public reported hearing the person call out about 7am today in the grounds of the ECOS Centre before daylight.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Was this you? This morning just before 7am police attended the grounds of the ECOS Centre in Ballymena after a member of the public reported hearing a cry for help.

"This has resulted in a search operation involving Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, the police helicopter and PSNI dog unit.

"Nothing has been found.

"There is a possibility that this was perfectly innocent as the path was flooded at the time.

"If you were in this area, maybe out for a run and can help us get to the bottom of it then please let us know by phoning 101 reference number 216 dated 28th December 2020."
