NI man's heart-warming tribute to late grandfather with emotional cover of 'Raglan Road'

A Co Armagh man has paid a heartwarming tribute to his late grandfather by honoring his memory through the classic Luke Kelly song 'Raglan Road'.

Odhran Murphy, 20, from Crossmaglen, is currently focusing on his music career with his first EP in the works.

The idea for the cover version of the ballad based on the Patrick Kavanagh’s poem came following the passing of his late grandfather Teddy Campbell last December.

Speaking to Belfast Live, Odhran said his granda just 'loved the song'.

"I grew up listening to this song which my granda Teddy would have sang! One of his favourites 'Raglan Road'.

"My granda played for years in the John Murphy Showband and sadly passed last Christmas.

"I wanted to upload this cover in tribute to him for so long but didn’t have the courage to sing it since he died. "

He added: "Then last week I finally felt I was ready to pay tribute to a man who inspired me so much with my music.

"I've always wanted to post a version of it up but never had it in me to do so!"

"I’m just so glad and thankful the response has been so positive and know he would be so proud of me continuing his legacy."
