NI Executive to meet over Covid-19 restrictions - have your say

Vaccine passports are one of a number of measures to be discussed as the Executive meets to look at the remaining Covid-19 rules in Northern Ireland.

Other measures on the table are enforcing mandatory wearing of facemasks and social distancing within hospitality venues such as pubs and restaurants.

While First Minister Paul Givan hopes that further relaxation of restrictions will be agreed at the meeting, contingency coronavirus plans to help manage health pressures this winter will also be discussed.

Despite the "marked decrease" in COVID admissions to hospitals across Northern Ireland, Mr Givan emphasised that "personal responsibility" will be one of the main deciding factors in whether or not there is a winter surge in cases and if Stormont will be forced to deploy contingency plans.

"But it is prudent that the Executive makes plans for that and has tools at its disposal, should it be required", he said.

Health Minister Robin Swann has previously stated that delays in approving a vaccine certificate scheme for Northern Ireland were frustrating, and could put the public in a disadvantaged position "when they travel to neighbouring jurisdictions where such schemes are mandatory."
