NI Department of Health Covid stats show 22 more people have died after testing positive

Twenty two more people have died after testing positive for Coronavirus, Saturday’s Department of Health Covid ‘Dashboard’ shows.

Figures published today also show a total of 705 people have tested positive for the virus - a significant fall from highs of around 2,000 over Christmas.

The number of people who have received a positive test over the last seven days is 7,051, which is down from 11,358 during the previous seven days.

A total of 94,539 people have tested positive for Covid-19, the Department figures also show. The rate of infection is also falling with the rate per 100,000 standing at 374 in the period January 9-15, down from 603 per 100,000 during January 2-8.

Deaths, however, are growing with 121 people having passed away in the last seven days compared 93 in the previous seven days. Total deaths, according to Department figures for people who have previously tested positive for Covid, now stand at 1,581.

There are now 834 ‘Covid occupied beds’ up from 833 on Friday which equates to 95% capacity.
