NI Covid stats show one further death and more than 120 cases

The Department of Health has recorded one further coronavirus-related death.

The fatality did not occur in the latest reporting period but has just been recorded, and the death toll from the DoH now stands at 2,155.

Friday's dashboard also reports a further 121 positive cases of Covid-19, bringing the total number of positive cases to 123,602 since the start of the pandemic.

Over the past seven days, the Department said 636 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

There are currently 18 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital and none in intensive care.

Meanwhile, the number of Delta variant cases in Northern Ireland is thought to have risen significantly in the past week.

A total of 28 probable cases have been uncovered following focused community testing in Kilkeel.

The Public Health Agency said it has concluded its targeted operation in the Co Down town.

But the new cases diagnosed in what Health Minister Robin Swann described as “large scale, door to door” testing has brought the number of suspected cases of the India-originated variation across NI to 111 up to June 9.

That figure is yet to be confirmed.
