NI Coronavirus: Seven further deaths and 533 new cases reported by DoH

The Department of Health has reported a further seven coronavirus related deaths.

According to the latest update, four of the fatalities are said to have occurred within the current reporting period, with the other three deaths occurring outside the current 24-hour period.

The death toll in Northern Ireland now stands at 954, according to the DoH.

Wednesday's dashboard update reports a further 533 positive cases of the virus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 50,676 since the start of the pandemic.

Over the past seven days, the Department says 2,421 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

There are currently 443 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital and 36 in intensive care.

Meanwhile, a staycation voucher scheme is set to be rolled out "when the time is right" to help tourism in Northern Ireland, says The Department for Economy.

It allocated funding in September for the £50 voucher.

It can be used at a number of participating businesses and continues to be developed by Tourism NI.

Economy Minister Diane Dodds has not confirmed whether the voucher will be per individual or household.
