NI Coronavirus: 14 further deaths and 441 new cases reported by DoH

The Department of Health has reported a further 14 coronavirus related deaths.

According to the latest update, 12 of the fatalities are said to have occurred within the current reporting period, with the other two deaths occurring outside the current 24-hour period.

The death toll in Northern Ireland now stands at 1,099, according to the DoH.

Thursday's dashboard update reports a further 441 positive cases of the virus, bringing the total number of positive cases to 56,719 since the start of the pandemic.

Over the past seven days, the Department says 3,051 individuals have tested positive in Northern Ireland.

There are currently 417 Covid-19 confirmed patients in hospital and 29 in intensive care.

Meanwhile, two weeks of restrictions that saw shops, restaurants, gyms and churches shut will end at midnight on Thursday.

This means that those who have not got the Christmas shopping wrapped up will be able to take to our high streets once again.

Restaurants and gastro pubs can also open for friends and family who feel like venturing out, while churches can recall their flocks and hairdressers, barbers and beauticians can get busy helping us look our best for the festive season.

Health Minister Robin Swann warned at Wednesday's press conference that despite many reopening for business, people don't have to go out.
