A website has been set up encouraging people across the UK to Clap for Our Carers tonight and show some love for those working hard to keep the NHS going.
A viral post has been doing the rounds on Glasgow’s social media, with many pledging their support to the event and promising a round of applause from the city’s doorways, gardens and windows at 8pm on the dot tonight (Thursday, March 26).
It reads: “During these unprecedented times, they need to know that we are grateful.
“Please join us for a big applause from front doors, garden, balcony, windows, living rooms etc to show all nurses, doctors, GPs and carers our appreciation for their ongoing hard work and fight against this virus.”
Clap for Our Carers also has a website, comparing the movement to similar rounds of applause in Spain, France and the Netherlands.
The site also encourages those joining in to live stream their clap on social media, or to upload photos and video using the hashtag #clapforourcarers.
Come on Glasgow, we know you can do it - and we can’t wait to see a collective show of support for the hardest working people in the city right now!
