NHS workers can use Trenchard Street car park and Bristol Community Transport for free

All NHS staff who work at Bristol Royal Infirmary will be able to use Trenchard Street car park for free.

And NHS workers will not have to pay a penny for riding on Bristol Community Transport.

Both announcements are aimed at helping some of the city's key employees, who are on the frontline during this pandemic, stay at work.

During a post on Twitter, mayor Marvin Rees said: "All NHS staff who work at the BRI will be able to use Trenchard car park for free.

"This is important so NHS staff can come into work while avoiding the use of public transport.

"We are working with the NHS to let their staff know.

"We'd like you to let your friends know who work in the NHS.

"And while here, I'd just like to thank other private car parks who are offering this services to people: the Galleries and the Cabot Circus car parks."

Meanwhile, bosses at Bristol Community Transport have announced all its services which connect the city to its hospitals will be free for any NHS staff.

The services are:

  • Route 52 , which runs from Cabot Circus to South Bristol Hospital
  • Route 505 , which runs from Long Ashton Park and Ride to Southmead Hospital
  • Route 506 , which runs from Broadmead to Southmead Hospital

The free services will stay in place for the duration of the coronavirus pandemic.

“Our NHS staff are pulling out all the stops to help tackle the coronavirus” said Jimmy Sommerville, General Manager at Bristol Community Transport. “Providing free travel on these services is the least we can do to play our part.”

To access free travel NHS staff will have to show their passes.
