NHS receptionist job advertised with whopping '£43 million salary'

While the public can only dream of salaries like those of Elon Musk (SpaceX), Jeff Besos (Amazon), and Tim Cook (Apple), it appears that a multi-million-pound salary could be just one job application away.

The NHS is currently recruiting a receptionist for the Cygnet Acer Clinic with a gigantic pay packet of over £43 million, plus benefits.

That salary would equate to over 0.2 per cent of the annual NHS budget totalling £176.5 billion.

The offered salary, if correct, which it likely isn't, is more than 21 times tonight's Lotto jackpot (£2m).

The job is at the Cygnet Acer Clinic in Chesterfield, East Midlands, which is looking for a receptionist to work 40 hours per week.

Bristol Post will be contacting the NHS to point this out.

The job advert reads: "We are looking for a friendly, professional Receptionist with a passion for making a difference to others.

"You'll be working 40 hours a week at Cygnet Acer Clinic, helping provide a safe, welcoming environment for colleagues, visitors and the people in our care.

"Cygnet Acer Clinic is a 28-bed service providing assessment, treatment and rehabilitation for women with personality disorder and complex needs or acute mental health needs."

Duties include welcoming and greeting visitors, taking phone calls, distributing post, and ensuring the reception area is kept clean and tidy.

"Strong career progression" is one of the benefits on offer, which raises the question of why a person would ever leave a job paying £43 million.

For context, Britain's highest-paid GP is paid just over £600,000 per year, according to the Daily Mail, while a normal consultant doctor earns a basic salary of £84,559 to £114,003 per year.

The salary is more than 21 times tonight's Lotto jackpot (£2m), more than double the cost of a 2021 Gulfstream private jet (£18.2m), and more than double the cost of a Bugatti La Voiture Noire (£20.7m) - the world's most expensive car.

Although it is doubtless a very large error on the job advert, it is always worth trying your luck.

The job advert can be viewed here and the closing date is December 16.
