NHS plead for Scots Covid-19 vaccine volunteers to participate in clinical trial

The NHS are pleading for new Covid-19 vaccine volunteers to participate in a clinical trial.

The Tayside health board and the University of Dundee need hundreds of Scots to sign up as they search for a coronavirus cure.

They aim to recruit around 400 volunteers aged 18 and over from the Tayside and Fife areas to represent 'the entire population'.

Medics are particularly interested in vulnerable people to come forward as they would be at higher risk of the deadly virus.

But anyone pregnant, or aiming to become pregnant in the next 10 months, or on long-term steroids cannot take part.

The health board said: "NHS Tayside and the University of Dundee are looking for volunteers to participate in a clinical trial studying an investigational vaccine against COVID-19.

"Full details on the study vaccine including safety information will be provided to you before you agree to take part."

Interested individuals are being asked to email their contact details to tay.vaccinetrial@nhs.scot
