The NHS nurse who broke hearts with a viral video of her staring at empty supermarket shelves has made a desperate plea to the nation to "help save lives" after revealing she is now in self-isolation with coronavirus symptoms.
Critical care nurse Dawn Bilbrough went viral with a heartbreaking video last week after she arrived at an empty shop following a long shift on the frontline and says she thinks some people still aren't taking things seriously.
And appearing on Good Morning Britain on Thursday, just after Dr Hilary Jones revealed the coronavirus self-test, Dawn revealed that is now in self-isolation after showing symptoms of COVID-19.
Speaking to Ben Shepherd, Lorraine Kelly and Dr Hilary, Dawn said the fact she turned up at her local supermarket to do a bit of shopping on the way home after a long shift, had left her "extremely anxious," as millions of viewers saw in her video that has been shared countless times on social media, sparking a huge reaction.
Lorraine told Dawn, she believed supermarkets up and down the country introducing special shopping ours for NHS workers was "down to you," to which Dawn said she was just glad it was happening, before revealing she hadn't been very well over the past few days and was self-isolating.
Before her interview ended, Dawn took the opportunity to make a plea to the nation about how we're responding to the coronavirus outbreak.
She said: "Me and my colleague just don't think some people are taking it seriously. You need to stay in to protect the NHS and save lives."
