An NHS nurse has said that finding her engagement ring after it went missing two years ago has given her “strength” in her fight against coronavirus.
Alison Brown lost her ring while hanging washing out to dry in her garden in Kent, leaving her “absolutely heartbroken”, according to her husband, Steve.
“Last year we dug up a huge amount of our garden to do the patio,” Mr Brown told the BBC.
“We searched again but couldn’t find anything, but that soil went onto one of our vegetable patches.”
On Sunday, Mr Brown was mowing the grass when his wife “came running over screaming”.
Mrs Brown had found the long-lost ring. She has said that she always knew it would turn up some day.
“I believe in destiny. It was amazing, I screamed so much. Then I cried with happiness, feeling faint with emotion.
“I felt blessed to find it, yet guilty I was happy at a time when so many are suffering in the world. Something I’m witnessing first hand.”
Opening up about how it has been working on the frontline of the coronavirus pandemic, Mrs Brown said it is demanding all of her knowledge, skills, and resilience to combat a “destructive invisible enemy”.
“Finding my ring has given me even more strength and positivity,” she added.
