NHS nurse “gutted” to find car keyed on both sides after attending Belfast coronavirus meeting

A NHS nurse says she is “gutted” after finding her car had been keyed on both sides while she attended a meeting about the Coronavirus outbreak in Belfast.

The mental health nurse, who does not wish to be named, told Belfast Live the damage caused to her car will cost more than £800 to repair.

She returned to her vehicle on the Antrim Road in North Belfast after attending an urgent response meeting dealing with the outbreak of Covid 19.

“When I came out of the facility, my car had been keyed on both sides. Someone had just went around the whole car,” the nurse said.

“I was just gutted, to be honest. With everything that is going on, that somebody could even do this is unbelievable.”

She added that it was “soul destroying” that someone would think about committing such an act on an essential worker.

The nurse said: “We are out trying to do our bit, I’m in work every day. I work with the mental health team and we are an essential service and we still have to keep going. It was just soul destroying.

“I’ve just had a call there with someone who had a look at the car - it’s going to cost me £800 to get fixed. £400 for each side of the car.

“I just don’t understand some people.

“We are out trying to do our best for everybody at the minute, and for something to think to do that, they really do steep down to the lowest point in humanity.”
