A Co Derry nurse received a new car free of charge from a dealership in Magherafelt in a kind gesture from the owners of the business.
NHS worker Marie Mullan got the good news after going to view a car at MC Autosales in the town, before receiving a message from owner Marc Currie to say she could take the keys without payment.
Marie said the dealership owner got in touch “with the nicest message ever about the work nurses do in the NHS ”. She added she had been having problems with her previous car in recent weeks.
“Just wanted to share an extremely kind gesture that happened to me today. Working as a nurse in NHS I depend on my car to take me to and from my work,” the Dungiven nurse said in a post on Facebook.
“Some of u know how much heartache my car had been causing me of recent .This morning I decided to go and see a wee car I had spotted for sale @ MC Autosales Ballyronan Magherafelt.
“When I arrived there was no sales guy available so I sat for a minute then a text came through to my phone stating the car was for me without cost with the nicest message ever about the work nurses do in the NHS.”
Marc Currie, from MC Autosales told Belfast Live: "It was just a wee car we had traded in. Not big value. She contacted me by email on Friday night to say her car was giving trouble and she was a nurse doing nightshifts so the car was essential.
"Marie had arranged to come up Saturday morning and I was just working by appointment due to the virus so thought it would be a nice gesture and sent her a message not to worry about payment and the key was on the tyre. It was just a small token giving something back to somebody who is helping to save lives."
