NHS Lothian warn Edinburgh hospital's A&E department is 'really busy'

NHS Lothian has today warned that the A&E department at Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary is "really busy."

Edinburgh locals are being warned not to show up at the hospital for 'a second opinion on an existing condition, minor illnesses or minor injuries.'

Instead, capital residents should only use the A&E department at the Little France hospital today if their condition is considered life-threatening or serious.

No one specific reason was given as to why the A&E department at Edinburgh's Royal Infirmary is experiencing high levels of patients, when NHS Lothian were asked by Edinburgh Live.

NHS Lothian warned on social media: "Our A&E Department at the RIE is really busy today.
