NHS Lothian has been named in the top ten Covid hotspots in the whole of Europe.
The latest Covid figures were released on Christmas Eve, December 24.
Due to a backlog, as of December 24, 7,076 new Covid cases were confirmed in Scotland.

Public Health Scotland (PHS) does stress that there is likely to be a backlog and delay in reporting due to the large volumes of tests being processed.
The Scottish Government measures the positivity rate by dividing the number of positive tests per day by the total number of tests carried out.
Covid hotspots across Europe
In a report from the World Health Organisation, NHS Lothian is a Covid hotspot across the whole of Europe, being placed tenth.
Denmark's Hovedstaden is the number one Covid hotspot with 2021.6 cases per 100,00 and London came in second with 1809.2.
NHS Lothian has recorded 1059.1 Covid cases as of December 24, making it number 10 in the list.
Covid cases in local authorities
West Lothian had the highest amount of positive cases per 100,000 as of December 21, with 1209.9 cases.
City of Edinburgh was fourth with 1101 cases.
In East Lothian, 857.3 cases were recorded and Midlothian had 970.5.
It has been confirmed that the Omicron variant is now the dominant strain in Scotland, overtaking Delta. According to the Scottish Government, Over 6,000 cases of Omicron have been recorded as of December 24.
Sadly there were 10 new reported death(s) of people who have tested positive in Scotland.
