NHS Lanarkshire launches drop-in vaccine clinics for 16 and 17-year-olds

NHS Lanarkshire is inviting all 16 and 17-year-olds to attend COVID vaccine drop-in clinics.

From today (August 10), youngsters of age will be able to attend any local drop-in clinic to be vaccinated.

They were invited to self-register for an appointment last week after advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI), said 16 and 17-year-olds should now receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

Dr Mark Russell, vaccination lead for the health board, told Lanarkshire Live: “The vaccine is our best way out of this pandemic.

"We ask 16 and 17-year-olds now eligible to please come forward. They can attend any of our drop-in centres, we expect them to be busy so there may be a wait at the clinic. We aim to have first doses delivered to this age group by the end of September.”

In addition to this age group, NHS Lanarkshire have started offering COVID-19 vaccinations to children and young people who are from key groups; and are between 12 to 17 years.

Anyone who doesn’t register or attend a drop-in clinic, a full list of which can be found online, will be sent an appointment invitation through the post.
