NHS Lanarkshire confirms Calderside Academy pupil tests positive for Covid-19

A pupil at Calderside Academy in Blantyre has tested positive for Covid-19.

NHS Lanarkshire’s test and protect team are now carrying out contact tracing and will continue to contact anyone who may be affected.

In a letter sent to parents and carers on September 1, Dr Femi Oshin, of NHS Lanarkshire said: “Following the findings of a review today, there is no evidence currently to suggest that anyone has been infected from being in the school.

“The risk to the wider school community is low and the school will remain open as normal.”

The health board has asked people to remain “vigilant” and to follow physical distancing guidance.

Dr Oshin continued: “It is important to bear in mind that mixing socially in the community without maintaining physical distancing measures helps the virus to spread widely.

“Information on how to access testing is available from NHS Inform.”
