Leeds NHS Trust issues 'serious' warning about Covid-19 vaccine scam tricking innocent people

A Leeds NHS trust has issued an urgent warning to people in the cityto 'not fall for Covid-19 vaccine scams'.

People in the city are being urged to be vigilant and reminded that the coronavirus vaccine is free of charge and only available through the NHS.

The warning comes as many people report receiving attempts of Covid-19 vaccine fraud. The NHS in Leeds posted the warning to their twitter account.

People in Leeds are urged to remember the following advice:

The NHS will not:

  • Ask for your bank details

  • Ask for your pin or banking password

  • Arrive unannounced to administer the vaccine at your home

  • Ask you to prove your identity by sending copies of your personal documents such as your passport or driving license

Here's, how to report concerns:

  • If you receive a call you believe to be fraudulent, hang up.

  • If you are suspicious about an email you have received, forward it to report@phising.gov.uk

  • Suspicious text messages should be forwarded to 7726

  • If you believe you are the victim of a fraud, you should report it as soon as possible by calling 0300 123 2040 or by visiting www.actionfraud.police.uk
