NHS Forth Valley clap for brave 80-year-old man who is discharged after beating COVID-19

A heart-warming video has emerged from NHS Forth Valley of an 80-year-old man being discharged from hospital after beating COVID 19.

The video emerged from Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Lambert, where 80-year-old James Mackenzie was kept for four weeks before beating the disease.

In the adorable video, James can be heard saying "Thank you, thank you very much." as he receives a standing ovation.

In the video, a nurse said: "B12 would like to celebrate discharge today of Mr James Mackenzie, who's recovered from Covid

"He's been with us for four weeks and we all want to celebrate with him his discharge home today

The nurse then asks: "Is Mr Mackenzie coming?" before the 80-year-old man is wheeled out through the hospital.

The hospital said: "Staff from ward B12 at Forth Valley Royal Hospital gathered today to celebrate the discharge of an 80-year-old patient who has recovered from Covid-19 and is now able to return to his own home after four weeks in hospital."

Health secretary Jeane Freeman shared the video saying: "This is great news to all who cared for this gentleman and my very best wishes to him as he fully recovers."
