NHS England Covid vaccine website crashes after bookings open for over-56s

NHS England's coronavirus vaccine website has crashed this morning after people aged over 56 were told to book a jab.

Those attempting to secure a slot for their first vaccine today, were given the message: "You cannot book coronavirus vaccination appointments at this time."

Those trying to book online are being told 'this service is currently unavailable', reports The Mirror.

It comes as vaccine centres across Nottinghamshire are also being stood down or on reduced hours this week due to a vaccine supply issue.

It was advised for people to use the national centres if these are accessible.

More than 18 million people across England – which amounts to more than one-third of the adult population – have already received a jab.

Across the whole of the UK, more than a million people have received both doses of a Covid-19 vaccine.

In addition, almost 21.4 million people have had one dose.

Hundreds of thousands of letters for people in the 56-59 age group began landing on doorsteps on Saturday.

People in England should be able to book a vaccine at https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/coronavirus-vaccination/book-coronavirus-vaccination/.
