NHS England confirms another coronavirus death at Salford Royal Hospital

Another coronavirus patient has died at Salford Royal hospital, the NHS announced today.

The patient is the sixth person to die at the hospital in the last week after testing positive for Covid-19.

No further details have been released about the latest case, which was revealed by NHS England this afternoon.

Across the country, a total of 83 coronavirus patients have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in England to 386.

NHS England said: "Patients were aged between 33 and 103 years old and all were in vulnerable groups including with underlying conditions."

Eleven deaths were announced in hospitals in Greater Manchester, nearly doubling the number of deaths in the region overnight to 23.

More than quarter of the deaths in Greater Manchester so far have been at Salford Royal Hospital.

The deaths of two women aged in their 80s were announced on 20 March. Three more deaths at Salford Royal were announced yesterday.
