NHS driver raging after workmen turn her £1,600 dropped kerb into ‘eyesore’

A NHS driver has branded a water company ‘a joke’ after they botched a £1,600 job to drop a kerb.

Tracy Mock asked for the manhole outside her house to be fixed into a dropped kerb but instead she was left with an “eyesore”.

The 54-year-old had splashed out to have the dropped kerb installed outside her home two years ago, but was horrified by what the workers had left behind.

Since then Tracy admits she has done nothing but complain and is demanding it is repaired as there is now “a great big trip hazard”.

She branded the water firm Severn Trent a “joke” and they later apologised for the quality of their work.

NHS driver Tracy said: “Everything was done while I was working. When I got home I was like ‘you are joking’. It was a mess.

“One person turned up to put the barriers up, another two people turned up to fix the hole, and then another two turned up later to put rubble in.

“I saw the barriers leaning up against the wall. It was a terrible job.

“I paid £1,600 two years ago to get a dropped kerb so it was all done properly and was all neat - and then Severn Trent came along and left the work like this. I’ve done nothing but complain.”

On top of the horrific eyesore, Mock was left afraid that the quality of the work would soon lead to it kerb and tarmac breaking apart, according to Stoke-on-Trent Live.

She added: “It looks a mess and my concern is how soon before all that tarmac starts breaking up because they’ve not done it properly.

“There are holes in the gaps around the edges. It took them seven minutes to fill a hole.

“I want them to come and make it level with the rest of it. I’m not asking for the whole drive to be done. But at least do it so it covers down to the footpath and over.

“Make it so it is level and it doesn’t look like an eyesore. When you come out of my front gate there’s a great big trip hazard. This is beyond a joke. This is not right.”

Severn Trent quickly apologised for any “inconvenience”.

A spokesman said: “We are working closely with the customer to return this stretch of pavement back to normal as quickly as possible, following some routine maintenance we’ve carried out in the area recently.

“We know that the work doesn’t meet our usual high standards, and we’re extremely sorry for any inconvenience this has caused the customer.”
